Now celebrating its 50th year
of publication, California Management
Review (CMR) serves
as a vehicle of communication between those who study management and
those who practice it. CMR publishes articles that are both research-based
and address issues of current concern to managers.
CMR emphasizes three areas of critical
importance to both practicing managers and academic researchers: Strategy
and Organization, Global Competition and Competitiveness, and Business
and Public Policy. CMR focuses on contemporary developments in the global economy, strategies for innovation, strategic planning, the management of technology, corporate culture, managing human resources, and business ethics.

For over
100 years, the Haas School of Business at the University of California,
Berkeley, has offered a superb management education to outstanding men
and women from around the world. The School is one of the world’s
leading producers of new ideas and knowledge for all areas of business,
and a launching point for many new businesses.
The Haas School is widely known for its diverse and talented faculty,
staff, students and alumni. They have created an innovative academic
culture that stresses cooperative teamwork, entrepreneurship, a global
point of view, and an emphasis on new ideas and fresh perspectives. The
school’s programs benefit significantly from the university’s practice of interdisciplinary research and teaching, and the school’s
strong connections to nearby Silicon Valley.
The Institute for Business Innovation (IBI) will play a transformative
role at the Haas School of Business by providing a central hub for the
implementation of the School's strategic plan. The IBI is directed by
the School's Associate Dean for Strategic Planning Professor Steve Tadelis
and Executive Director, Adam Berman. The IBI is part of the Dean's
Office.
The IBI is composed of four separate centers, including teaching & learning,
curriculum development, faculty development, and partnerships. Together,
these will drive implementation of Haas' strategic plan.

The Management of Technology (MOT) Program, established in 1989, is a joint effort between the College of Engineering (COE) and the Haas School of Business at the University of California, Berkeley. MOT is the most popular interdisciplinary program at UC Berkeley, with classes and fellowship programs made up of roughly an equal number of Haas MBAs and COE Masters and PhD students.
An associated MOT Certificate Program allows graduate students to specialize in the Management of Technology as they obtain their degrees. The MOT Program seeks to address a number of technology management challenges. There is no such thing as a low-tech industry anymore. If you are planning a career in any industry, you need a good grounding in how technology management differs from traditional methods. MOT focuses on the operational and organizational issues associated with managing new product development and commercialization.
